Lia Perjovschi

27.06–26.07.2019

We are happy to be part of CONDO New York 2019 with works by LIA PERJOVSCHI, hosted by Simone Subal Gallery.

LIA PERJOVSCHI
(Romanian, b. 1961)

Lia Perjovschi is a founder and coordinator of CAA CAA (Contemporary Art Archive and Centre for Art Analysis) an organic work-in-progress project (under different names since 1985) and KM (Knowledge Museum, an interdisciplinary research project from 1999-today).  Her activity can be summarised as a journey from her physical body to the universal body of knowledge and was shown in more then 500 exhibitions, lectures, workshops around the world, among which Total Museum, Seoul; MUSAC, León; Nasher Museum, Duke University; MUMOK, Vienna; Zacheta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Tate Modern; Centre Pompidou; to name just a few.

From her earliest days mounting performances and exhibitions in her apartment, in the university or throughout the city, to her recent plans for the Knowledge Museum, Lia Perjovschi has been concerned with producing opportunities for intellectual exchange.  Her artistic practice comprises various media, from performance to assemblage, from drawing and text to site-specific installations of objects, facts, diagrams, mind maps and timelines.

Through her diagrams, hand-drawn pictorials of theory, politics and art, Lia Perjovschi structures and at the same time visually compiles her readings and thoughts on the world and the human being. They chart dynamic and unexpected connections between various topics and concepts, revealing the interdependency of different fields of thought.

She lives and works in Sibiu and Bucharest, Romania.
