Untitled Fighter
Iulia Toma
27.09.2014 – 29.11.2014
Ivan Gallery has the pleasure to invite you to the opening of Iulia Toma’s solo show of textile works Untitled Fighter. The event will take place on Saturday, September 20 at 5:00 p.m.
“As we see ourselves, the resistance is persistence, yielding at the right moment, moving forward behindhand, the attack is nothing else than a manifest of desire, an alternative version, an essay, of a future/past potential mutual understanding.
I write about what I am going to do, goodbye, on the sleeve – using the-way-I-am language / the language of the way I am, I tell you what is the plan, how I come and what you do. We counterbalance each other within the same show, you lose the balance when I hold you tight. I know how to thrust. The sharp point of my foil stings your eyes, the glowing of the costume contains the mes- sage that betrays. We both know that in the end the place we find ourselves in will be others’, the opposition is a manifest of desire.
Where, when did the training begin? I wrap myself in multiple existences, I draw my own body, my aura, my personal space, at home and farther – this is my way to Mars and I am not coming back.“ (Iulia Toma)
